Why buy vintage uranium glass?
Uranium glass (also known as vaseline glass) glows with a bright green color under ultraviolet light. Its production actually involved uranium, which emits only very weak alpha radiation. This type of radiation travels only 10-20 cm and can be stopped by a sheet of paper.
Since the 1970s, uranium glass and crystal have no longer been produced and are now considered collectible items.
Uranium glass is fascinating not only for its eerie glow but also because it serves as a reminder of a time when radiation was not fully understood, making it a curious blend of science and art. Its unique appearance and historical significance have made it a sought-after piece for collectors worldwide.
