Aino Aalto, Vintage glasses Bölgeblick Set of 3, Karhula Iittala 1960s
Vintage clear glass tumblers set of 3 from one of the most iconic Minimalist design series. Design by Aino Aalto.
The iconic early modernist glassware series Bölgeblick (that means Wave Glance in Finnish) marked the beginning of contemporary tableware design. Created by one of the first female designers, Aino Aalto, for the Karhula glassworks in Finland, production began in 1932. Interesting that Aino's surname Aalto means Wave in Finnish.
The series is distinguished by its soft yet geometric contours and unique stepped forms that are distinctly atectonic.
In 1936 Bölgeblick was awarded the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennial, the most prestigious design exhibition of its time.
1960s - 1970s. Karhula - Iittala glassworks, Finland. Height: 9 cm. Excellent vintage condition, consistent with the age of an items
